The Weightlifting Course teaches participants:

  1. The proper stance, grip and positions for the snatch, clean and jerk.
  2. The Burgener warm-up, skill-transfer exercises and the rationale for each component.
  3. Common faults and corrections for each lift, with opportunities to coach other participants in the lifts.

Mobility Magic: Beyond Stretching and Rolling

In order to create lasting changes in mobility, it’s important to understand the mechanisms that lead to restriction and that feeling of “tightness”, as well as how to properly address the root cause. It’s common to spend a focused effort on mobility for months on end and yet see no real change. Foam rolling and traditional stretching programs can be valuable tools in your program, but they do little to create lasting changes in your range of motion. In this session you’ll learn the keys to unlocking common mobility restrictions. When you understand and effectively target the underlying cause of your restrictions, you’ll see noticeable improvement. (Hands-On Only)

Training the Broken Athlete: Challenges & Solutions When Working With People in Pain

Pain is powerful. It’s destructive, de-motivating and derailing and refuses to be ignored. It causes some people to give up things they love to do and prevents others from doing what they know they should. Elite athletes retire from their careers feeling broken while others simply avoid all physical activity despite their deteriorating health. In this session we’ll discuss the challenges you face as a fitness professional when working with a client in pain and you’ll learn the strategies Ingrid discovered as she struggled to compete at an elite level during years of dealing with chronic pain. These approaches can be used for athletes and non-athletes alike—from the nationally ranked weightlifter coming back from low back and hip problems to the typical personal training client with shoulder or knee pain. (Hands-On Only)
